Class JL tankers

In 1936 a single JL class tanker (116) was built for the Texas Oil Co (later CALTEX). A second wagon was built in 1940 numbered 120. The chassis was built by WAGR but the tank came from Bradford, Kendall in Sydney. The WAGR outline diagram covering classes JE and JL is shown below. This appears to show that the only difference between the classes was the longer wheelbase bogies of the JL but it is apparent from the photo above, that the domes and ladders of JL120 at least were different.
Another photo of JL120 from the RHWA collection.
