The second class to use the JA classification were a group of 2800 gallon water tankers built on the GC type chassis. In 1937 a variant on the JA design appeared when the final batch of ten wagons were turned out with all steel underframes (numbers shown in red). Some were converted to JP class petrol tankers and another group of conversions started in 1939 when two wagons were converted to bitumen tankers and reclassified JX. In total there were 13 conversions from JA to JX. The conversions and fate of the JX's were as follows: |
