Twenty-four three plank dropside wagons were built for the M.R.W.A. by Lancaster Wagon Co in 1891. They were classed I and numbered 1I-24I. By 1902 2-13 and 15 were no longer part of this class. It is possible that some, at least, became G class tankers. Between 1902 and 1911 the survivors became 260-269. At some point between 1911 and 1932 I244 was converted from class G and I283-289 appeared. It is possible that 283-289 were renumbered from class IA ballast wagons as the 1924 and 1925 reports note three and two IA reclassified as I respectively but do not give wagon numbers. In 1932 I244, 260-268, 283-287 and 289 were renumbered I351-367. In 1933-4 I355 was fitted with ballast plough in a similar manner to some W.A.G.R. H class and I364 was similarly altered in 1936-7. I357 and 362 were nominally rebuilt on DXA class frames in 1956 whilst I350 was nominally rebuilt on a DA underframe. I353 was also nominally rebuilt on a DA class underframe in 1958. In 1960 I358 was re-bodied. Disposal of the class was as follows: |
