QS Class sleeper wagon.

ZA type frame

This class was created in 1963 from old brake van and carriage underframes. It breaks down into three groups.

The first group consists of six wagons rebuilt from ZA class brake vans. The had 5'-6" wheelbase plate frame bogies and were 42'-0" long. Numbers 16071-5 were built in 1963 followed by 16118 in 1967.

 AB type frame

The second group was 49'-0" long on 5'-6"wheelbase coach bogies. (apart from 16051 which had RC type bogies). The coaches converted were from classes AA, AB and ACL. In 1963 numbers 16051, 16061-16070 were turned out followed by 16092-16111 in 1965 and finally 16112-9 in 1967.

The third group was converted from AP class coaches in 1963 and numbered 16052-16060. They were 46'-3" long and had 5'-8" wheelbase bogies.
