This class of forty tankers was built for Western Mining Corporation in two batches. WN 501-530 were built in 1970 by A E Goodwin in NSW and were followed by a second batch 531-540 in 1975. They had a capacity of 70 tons of nickel concentrate. Responsibility for the maintenance cost of these wagons was assumed by the W.A.G.R. in 1973. Further wagons (in class WNA) were owned by the W.A.G.R. All except WN531 were still in traffic in June 2010.
