Class WSQ Rail Recovery Wagon

Somehow I accidentally caught most of WSQ30158 in the foreground of a shot of Z89.

Twelve Rail recovery wagons numbered WSQ 30151 - 30162 were issued to traffic in February/March 1979. They are noted on the record card as "Converted from R" - so they must ex Commonwealth Railways wagons bought from ANR.  The following 16 wagons were sold to WAGR in 1978:  RT2, RT9, R10, RT12, R30, TOA32, R40, RT46, RT49, R50, R53, RT59, RT63, R80, R88, R257.  The RT wagons were R's altered to be able to carry Tanks in World War 2. They all dated from 1913-1914 and the construction of the Trans Australian line and were 35' long.  Two of these ex ANR wagons became the WSV class bulkhead rail wagons (30164 and 30165) although one (30164) was class WSD for a short time, another one became the WSF 30163.

WSQ 30152, 30157, 30158, 30160, 30162 were written off in 1991.
