Class WTEF Tankers

WTEF 4726 at Kewdale. N. Chapple (RHWA collection)

Three former NSW NTAF tankers were reclassified WTEF in 1995. These were very different to the NTAF reclassified as WTAF earlier. I believe that these three were 30 tonne capacity tankers built by Goninan's in 1982 for TOTAL. They retained their original NSW numbers 4726-4728. WTEF4726P is shown above with AMPOL branding.

Three further NTAFs became WTEF in 1998 (4068, 4071, 4725). WTEF 4725 was the same type as  4726-8.  4068 and 4071 appear to have been 67000l capacity tankers built in 1970 by Comeng for AMPOL. All of these wagons were no longer listed in 2010 as WTEF but there were tankers with corresponding numbers coded ATEY. The ATEY tankers had been WTEY after WTEF. There were additional ATEY tankers listed in 2010 (506 (ex WJE), 4070, 4617, 4724, 7310, 7312, 7314, 7315, 7317). I think that 7310/2/4/5/7 were all of a similar type with a capacity of 56 tonnes and 4068, 4070, 4617 & 4724 also had the same capacity.  There are more images here.
