Class Z Bogie Brake van Z154 (Rebuilt AH4)

This brake van had a particularly long history. It began life as 6-wheeled ABC class composite carriage number 4 in 1881.

It was reclassified AH in 1900 and acquired 5'-6" wheelbase bogies in 1906-7.

In April 1927 it was rebuilt as Z10615 in a similar style to Z185 later Z20, the rebuilt BC185. It was only 32'-0" long compared with the 33'-4" of Z185 but was otherwise similar with an end platform. It career was brought to an abrupt end by a collision and it was written off in October 1950.
