Class DX weighbridge testing vans

In 1902 two weighbridge testing vans were constructed. These used an all steel 13'-11" chassis fitted with vacuum brakes similar to other wagons constructed at that time. These two wagons were numbered 1411 and 5947.

The WAGR outline diagram of 1411 & 5947 is shown below.

Number 5947 was written off in 1950 and replaced by a new vehicle numbered 5972 built on a GE type chassis in 1949.

This new van was 16'-0" long and all welded but was otherwise very similar to the original pair. Both of the surviving vans lasted long enough to be repainted in Westrail Yellow livery.

Number 5972 was written off in 1993 followed by 1411 in 1996. Number 1411 is preserved.
