A WAGR official photo of the first two GDs. This is reproduced from a scan of the "Western Mail" from 28-12-1907 on TROVE and consequently is of poor quality. The original would have been on a glass plate negative of very high quality. If anybody knows of a better version of this image please let me know. |

This class of twenty-one wagons was a high-sided version of the GB class. A total of twenty-one was turned out in 1907-1909 as follows:
The fact that no more were built suggests that they were not a success. It may be that they were an experimental alternative to the GC class with extra height on a 15' frame rather than the 16' length of the GC. |
This rather blurry, blown up image above is believed to be a GD class wagon. |
