Class GMR open wagon with ridgepole

In 1955 a new type was created when four GM class wagons were fitted with a Victorian Railways type ridgepole arrangement and reclassified GMR (15661, 15730, 15770, 15777). Further conversions followed in 1956 and 1957. Once cane support brackets started to be fitted from 1963 to most open wagons the ridgepoles were less relevant and were slowly removed with the wagons reverting to class GM. All had gone by 1990.
