Class HE low-sided wagons |
In 1971 a total of forty-four redundant CXA class sheep wagons were used as the basis for HE class low-sided wagons. These were the last four-wheel low-sided wagons built for the W.A.G.R. The wagons involved in the conversion program were as follows: 94, 270, 395, 491, 707, 720, 721, 843, 872, 874, 1098, 1127, 1131, 1146, 1922, 2554, 3096, 6739, 7118, 7434, 10070, 10080, 10081, 11309, 11314, 11316, 11318, 11325, 11330, 12081, 12084, 12110, 12127, 12136, 40403, 40406, 40411, 40413, 40414, 40416 |
The number series includes wagons converted from ex M.R.W.A. vehicles in the 40XXX series and also 7434 which, at least in theory, was a wooden framed CXA. It is very likely that 7434 and another CXA had in fact swapped identities at some stage. The class was written off as follows: |
1976 | 3096 written off |
1977 | 2554, 12084, 40414 written off |
1979 | 843, 12110 written off |
1980 | 7118 converted to NS |
1981 | 11330 converted to NS |
1982 | 40406 converted to NS |
1983 | 94, 270, 395, 491, 707, 720, 721, 872, 874, 1098, 1127, 1131, 1146, 1922, 6739, 7434, 10070, 10080, 10081, 11309, 11314, 11316, 11318, 11325, 12081, 12127, 12136, 40403, 40411, 40413, 40416 written off |
