Class JO Oil tanks

In 1937 the W.A.G.R. started railcar operations with the ADE class diesel electric railcars. Naturally there was also a need for vehicles to carry the fuel and so two new JO class tankers were built. They were numbered 4009 and 4010. Number 4010 was written off in 1973 and 4009 followed in 1976.

I have no photo of a complete wagon but the grounded JO tank can be easily distinguished by its large central filling point. Later JOA class tankers had this off-centre. The WAGR outline diagram is shown below.
