Class JW tanks

By about 1928 the W.A.G.R. was using J class tankers to transport residual oil. The J class wagons involved were 343, 877, 1443, 2413, 2415, 2431 and 3696. In 1938 numbers 343, 1443, 2415 and 2431 were reclassified JW. Number 2431 reverted to class J in 1944. In 1960 number 343 was written off and 2415 became JETTY 267. This left only number 1443 which was finally written off in 1977.  The WAGR outline diagram is shown below.

However in 1977 a new JW 1443 was created from the frames of BE20600 and the tank from JOA 10242. This tanker was 18'-0" long rather than the 15'-0" of the earlier wagons. It was written off in 1990.
