A total of 56 were built In 1953 22871-22885 entered service followed by 22851-22870 in 1956. The WAGR outline diagram for the NF is shown below. In 1956 a group of 9 wagons were converted to carry cement containers (22851, 22854, 22855, 22867, 22869, 22872, 22875, 22878, 22884) and reclassified NFC.
