In 1985 four QU class flat top wagons (25012, 25021, 25022, 25036) were reclassified QUG. Another five followed in 1986 (25005, 25008, 25037, 25039, 25051).

In 1994 four of these wagons were written off (25008, 25022, 25036, 25051). Four more (25005, 25012, 25021, 25039) went in 1996. The fate of 25037 is unclear but it probably also went in 1996.
