Class WW Wheat Hoppers

From the start of the standard gauge operation in WA shifting wheat was a major task. The WW class were built for the brand new railway for this task. One hundred and forty of these wagons were built between October 1966 and April 1967 by Scotts of Ipswich in Queensland.

WW 32001 - 32081 in 1966 and 32082-32140 in 1967. The class remained intact for thirty years but WW32015, 32041 were written off 1997.

At some point 45 wagons were reclassified WWS. The wagons involved were 32002, 32003, 32006, 32007, 32008, 32013, 32016, 32017, 32019, 32020, 32021, 32026, 32027, 32029, 32035, 32040, 32045, 32047, 32049, 32050, 32052, 32062, 32065, 32067, 32074, 32076, 32080, 32081, 32088, 32090, 32092, 32093, 32094, 32097, 32100, 32108, 32109, 32112, 32113, 32116, 32117, 32122, 32131, 32132 and 32140.

By 2010 there had been no further withdrawals but the WW were now class AGWY and the WWS were class AGSY. In 2014 all of the WWS(AGSY) and the remaining 93 WW(AGWY) were listed for scrapping by Aurizon.
