Class X hopper (class UB before 1900)

In 1898 a single prototype bogie hopper wagon numbered 2067 was built. In 1900 it was reclassified from UB to X. It was 35'-0" long but only 7 ton capacity. It cannot have been that satisfactory as no more of the type were built but in 1902 the first of the shorter but higher capacity XA class wagons was delivered. In 1904/5 the underframe from this wagon was used to build an RX class open wagon. A very early WAGR outline diagram is shown above. I will be amazed if we ever find a picture of this one.
