Class Z Bogie Brake vans Z221-228

During the Second World War a group of seven older clerestory roofed vans was rebuilt with new bodies (type 15a). These formed the pattern for a batch of eight new vans in 1946 (Z221-8), which used old coach bogies (type 15b).  They lasted well, with only 228 going before the general cull of brake vans in the mid 1980s.  Three of them even survived that lasting as accident vans until the nineties.  Details are in the table below.
