In 1961 production of the RCA class was halted and a new design on the same chassis but with higher sides, the RCB, was introduced. A total of four hundred wagons of this type was eventually built. Essentially they were a bogie equivalent of the GH. Conversion to other classes started almost as soon as construction of the class was finished when half of the class was fitted with ridgepoles and reclassified RCW. Later conversions were to class RCH and by 1982 the class had ceased to exist. Details of the class are as follows:
