Ashbury Carriage and Wagon Co built twelve Cold storage vans which entered service with the W.A.G.R. in 1897 (4503) and 1898 (4504-4514). After 1900 these vans became the W class. In 1924 W4513 became a VW class workmen's van as did W4505 and W4514 in 1925. Between 1934 and 1936 number W4503 also served as a workmen's van. In 1937 VW4513 became a VC class accident van. Finally in 1975 VW4505 and 4514 were written off.
